Wildlife Photography Scotland — Raff Karva Photography

wildlife

Scotland is one of the best places in Europe to photograph wildlife. From the coastlines of East Lothian to the open moorland of the Highlands, the variety of species on offer is extraordinary. This is my own territory — I've been working it for years, with a camera and, increasingly, with words.

the approach

Wildlife photography is patience made visible. You don't find the shot — you wait for it. The right light, the right moment, the right stillness. Sometimes that takes minutes. Sometimes it takes months.

I work across the full range of Scottish wildlife — red deer, foxes, raptors, adders, hares, water birds. From the garden gate to the glen. The approach is the same whether the subject is a short-eared owl quartering moorland at dusk or a blackbird in a back garden: go quiet, go slow, and stay until something happens.

For editorial commissions requiring both images and text — a magazine feature, a conservation piece, a nature article — I can supply both. The writing comes from the same place as the photography: time spent in the field, paying attention.

A selection of wildlife images are also available as fine art prints.
