Live music photography is about anticipation. Knowing when the guitarist is about to hit the solo, when the singer will turn to the crowd, when the light will do something worth capturing. You can't learn that from behind a camera alone.
Photography and live music ran alongside each other for years — I photographed gigs while also managing concerts, venues and festivals. I've spent years on both sides of the stage, understanding set structure, lighting rigs, how a crowd moves, when the moment is coming before it arrives.
That background changes how I work. I know where to be, when to move, and when to stay still. I don't get in the way of the performance or the audience. I come back with images that capture the energy of the night rather than a record of someone standing at a microphone.
For festivals, venues and event organisers who need both images and written coverage, I can deliver both. Event reviews, press releases, promotional copy — produced alongside the photography rather than as an afterthought.
